Weekly career counselling sessions are conducted for VGS students from grade VIII onwards and financial support is provided to girls from the slums who have completed class X/XII to pursue vocational training courses. This programme is funded by World Education Fund (WEF), USA. Courses being supported depend on the interest and skill of the students like -Apparel design, Nursery teacher training, Medical assistants training, Computer courses, etc. The duration of the courses is from 6 months to two years. The financial support is open to all girls from the slums who fulfill income criteria and are above 18 years of age.
Vimukti has identified certain courses and institutes for this initiative. The girls are counselled, their aptitude assessed jointly by Vimukti and the training institute; the girls are then admitted and supported under various programmes.
Every effort is made to ensure that girls get jobs after completion of their respective courses. Vimukti regularly follows up with the girls and the training institutes.
